BIOGRAPHY
Cheryl Pope’s exhibition Matter of Fact at Dorsch Gallery in September 2011 generated an amazing response including reviews in numerous Miami-based blogs and magazines, as well as a review in Art Papers. Since this exhibition she had work in the group show Next Generation at the Contemporary Wing in Washington, D.C., a video exhibition Heavy Rotation at Franklin Street Works in Connecticut, and installed a site-responsive work at the Deering Estate in Miami, FL. Her work is included in This Side of Paradise, a group exhibition curated by Manon Slome at No Longer Empty in New York this April. Pope received a Masters in Design in 2010 from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, which was supported by a Full Tuition Merit Scholarship, and Bachelors in Fine Arts from the same in 2003. She is studio manager for Nick Cave, for whom she has worked since 2003. She credits him and his work as a great influence on her practice. In the past eight years, her work has been included in many group contexts, including venues in Chicago such as Evanston Art Center, Boomerang, Swimming Pool Projects, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, as well as The Morgan Conservatory in Cleveland. At Art Chicago in 2009, she was selected for the New Insight, a selection of the top graduate students from the top art schools in the country. She is part-time faculty at the School of Art Institute Fashion Department in Chicago. Her work is in the collections of Kathryn and Dan Mikesell, Miami, FL and Heather and Tony Podesta, Washington, D.C.View Artist Bio
